Advancing Neurodiagnostics by raising the level of patient care in our communities.
The Medsurant Health Academy is accredited by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET), and continues to evolve while remaining the most stringent and competitive in the industry.
Candidates must hold a bachelor of science degree and/or have extensive clinical experience and possess registrations in Electroencephalography (R.EEGT) or Evoked Potentials (R.EPT).
Before candidates enter the operating room, they sit through a 40 hour didactic introductory course in Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM).
A twelve to eighteen month fellowship program follows, as candidates work alongside an experienced Certified Intraoperative Neuromonitoring technologist (CNIM) in daily scheduled procedures, and take call with a CNIM to gain experience in trauma and emergent cases.
Quarterly case reviews, competencies, and classroom instruction taught by our in house Certified Trainers accompanies the vast surgery experience. Upon completion of the fellowship program, candidates are required to pass an internal protocol test before sitting for the CNIM or R.EPT exams.
All of our technologists are encouraged to become 'Double Boarded' (CNIM, and/or R.EPT/R.EEGT) which allows them to have the clinical as well as the intraoperative knowledge of the END field. It is our experience that this produces a well rounded technologist proficient in not only the surgical cases, but also in any technical trouble shooting aspects that may arise.
